Usually most women get their periods regularly without much complications.   • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) : PMS is basically an unpleasant and uncomfortable symptom women feel during the cycle. Two out of five women experience symptoms severe enough to disturb their lifestyle. The most common symptoms PMS includes are fluid retention, skin problems like acne, headache, heart palpitations, infections, allergies and psychological problems like depression, anxiety, irritability. 
  • Amenorrhea : It is a condition of absence of menstruation. Primary amenorrhea is a condition when  Menstruation does not begin at puberty. Secondary amenorrhea is a condition when regular periods stop suddenly for more than 3 months. Amenorrhea can cause a medical condition like ovulation abnormality, excessive or strenuous exercise, birth defect, anatomical abnormality or other medical condition.
  • Dysmenorrhea: Women usually experience cramps during periods but if cramps are especially painful and persistent, this is called dysmenorrhea.  
  • Menorrhagia: It is a condition of abnormal heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding.
