Dr. Debasis Patro is a dedicated Pediatric Rheumatologist and Clinical Immunologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing complex autoimmune and inflammatory disorders in children. He currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at IMS and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Dr. Patro completed his MBBS in 2012 and MD in Pediatrics in 2018 from M.K.C.G. Medical College, Berhampur, Odisha. He went on to pursue a 20-month Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology under Manipal University, with clinical training at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru. This sub-speciality is unique, ie, hardly 18-20 centres across India to cater to such children.

Dr. Patro holds EULAR certifications in Pediatric Rheumatology (2021) and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (2024), and has participated in numerous specialized workshops including the PROMISe program, JIR Winter Schools, IRACON, POCRUS, and national immunodeficiency and rheumatology conferences. He has also completed a Training of Trainers (ToT) course on Primary Immunodeficiencies at PGIMER, Chandigarh. His areas of interest include Childhood lupus, Systemic arthritis, Macrophage activation syndrome, Syndromic arthropathy, Vasculitis, Auto-inflammatory diseases, Vaccination in special situation, MSK in Pediatric Rheumatology, Infections in immunocompromised, Clinical immunology. 

He has established a dedicated Pediatric Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology outpatient service in Odisha, which also caters to inpatient care for critically ill children with rheumatic diseases. He serves as the designated regional contact in Odisha for conditions such as Hereditary Angioedema and Kawasaki Disease. Dr. Patro has presented several abstracts at international forums and has authored peer-reviewed articles in reputed journals like Rheumatology and the Indian Journal of Pediatrics, along with five book chapters published in 2024.
