About Dr. Rahul Sharma

Dr. Rahul Sharma is a Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist, Bronchoscopist, Allergy & Sleep Medicine Specialist dedicated to providing specialized, family-centred respiratory care tailored to the needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

Dr. Sharma completed his MBBS and MD in Pediatrics and had additional clinical exposure during his Senior Residency training in Pediatrics in Madhya Pradesh. He then completed a three-year Fellowship in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine with one year of advance training at Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College Pune and two years of specialized clinical training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, United Kingdom.

His training has enabled him to evaluate and manage childhood asthma, recurrent wheeze, chronic cough, recurrent pneumonia, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, complex airway diseases and sleep-related breathing disorders. He is also experienced in Pediatric respiratory diagnostics and interventions including flexible bronchoscopy, comprehensive pulmonary function testing (Spirometry, Impulse Oscillometry and FeNO), allergy evaluation including skin prick testing, management of pediatric sleep disorders, non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and care of children requiring long term respiratory support and home ventilation.

Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Sharma remains actively involved in academics and research, with presentations at national and international scientific conferences, including the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress and the King’s John Price Pediatric Respiratory Conference, and contributions to pediatric respiratory research.

His MD thesis focused on the incidence, clinical features, and outcomes of electrolyte imbalances in children admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), reflecting his interest in critical care and improving outcomes in seriously ill children.

He has also authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in reputed medical journals, including research on the unusual presentation of airway foreign bodies causing chronic stridor and a clinical report on Sturge-Weber syndrome with paroxysmal hemiparesis. His research demonstrates a commitment to advancing evidence-based pediatric care and staying at the forefront of developments in pediatric respiratory medicine.
