Dr. Debasis Patro is a dedicated Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist and Clinical Immunologist at Ankura Hospital, Bhubaneswar, specializing in the diagnosis and management of complex autoimmune and inflammatory disorders in children. He is known for his compassionate care and expertise in managing rare pediatric rheumatology and immunology cases.
Dr. Patro completed his MBBS in 2012 and MD in Pediatrics in 2018 from M.K.C.G. Medical College, Berhampur, Odisha. He further pursued a 20-month Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology under Manipal University, with clinical training at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru — one of the very few specialized programs available in India. He holds EULAR certifications in Pediatric Rheumatology (2021) and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (2024), and has participated in advanced workshops including PROMISe, JIR Winter Schools, IRACON, POCRUS, and national immunodeficiency and rheumatology conferences.
Dr. Patro has established a dedicated Pediatric Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology outpatient service in Odisha, also managing critically ill inpatients with rheumatic conditions. He serves as the regional contact for rare conditions like Hereditary Angioedema and Kawasaki Disease. His clinical interests include childhood lupus, systemic arthritis, macrophage activation syndrome, syndromic arthropathy, vasculitis, auto-inflammatory diseases, vaccination in special situations, musculoskeletal evaluation in pediatric rheumatology, infections in immunocompromised children, and broader clinical immunology
