Job Description:
- The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse is responsible for the care and treatment of newborn infants suffering from illness or prematurity, as well as caring for their parents and guardians. A NICU Incharge/Nurse provides round-the-clock care for the basic and medical needs of newborn infants in the NICU.
- Evaluating and overseeing the process & suggest cost control measures to the Unit Admin/Medical director.
- Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants.
- Taking over from night shift incharge.
- Taking rounds along with Duty Doctor/Consultants.
- Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.
- Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
- Dispatching blood samples and collecting Lab reports.
- Collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide quality patient care.
- Knowledge on usage of medical equipment, including incubators, feeding tubes, and oxygen hoods.
- Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner in all the appropriate formats and on appropriate forms.
- Allocation of duty rosters to NICU staff.
- Ensuring that the rosters are uploaded into HR software for attendance leading to payroll processing.
- Follows neonatology guidelines, regulations, and standards.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Should be able to handle medical emergency arising in ICU.
- Educate new parents on basic infant care including breastfeeding, hygiene and safety.
- Training and mentoring junior nurses.
- Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers.
- Displaying patience and focus on patient care.
- Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.
- Comforts parents and answers questions about their baby’s health.
Job Specification
- Minimum Qualifications : GNM/B.Sc. Nursing recognized by INC / TSNC
- Minimum 5 years – 10 years experience & 1 year’s experience in ICU or NICU.
- CPR certification
- The ability to offer comfort to ill newborns.
- Ability to converse in local language, Hindi and English
- Knowledge on usage of NICU equipment in general or in emergency
